Broadening Experiences
We liaise closely with organisations within our communities to strengthen family ties, deepen relationships and enrich our children’s experiences. We work alongside the Lancashire Family Hub and the Wigan Early Childcare Team to provide wholesome family-oriented support when required. We network and utilise the resources from North West Multi-Bank Agency and ‘The Brick’ to reach out and offer wider assistance to the families within our boroughs.
We have wonderful relationships with visiting peripatetic music teachers and with the Lancashire and Wigan Active Healthy Living Teams. These teams visit the nurseries and work alongside the children whilst exploring issues associated with fitness and physical exercise, healthy eating and nutrition, dental hygiene and mindfulness.
We also work closely with the people within our localities ‘who help us.’ We welcome representatives from these groups to our nurseries to show our children the good work that they do. To date we have had visits from the R.S.P.B., the Police, Paramedics, the Fire Service, water safety campaigners, animal rescue groups, petting farms, local businesses, young people’s Cadet Groups, local libraries, dental nurses and residents from care homes. We carry out visits to local places of interest such as the Post Office, shops, nearby allotments and garden centres.
Our nurseries regularly provide work experience opportunities to local schools and colleges. For those who wish to pursue a career in childcare, we also provide practical placements and apprenticeships as part of Level 2 and Level 3 Childcare qualifications.
