Nursery Rhymes

We promote early interactions in the community by designing, printing and displaying song and nursery rhyme posters on noticeboards around the community. According to a Department for Education poll of nearly 300,000 parents, it was revealed that 8% of children aged under five in England have never learnt songs, poems or nursery rhymes. As a nursery, we recognise the beneficial effects of songs and rhymes on children’s early communication skills so we resolved to pass on this information to parents of all children, whether or not they attend our settings.

Each poster contains words, pictures and actions of a different nursery rhyme and explains how to sing it to a child. Posters also contain several facts about the importance of rhymes for young children.  Posters are rotated regularly so as to illustrate a new song on a regular basis.

Copies of some of the posters can be downloaded here for your own use.

Supporting Victims of Domestic Violence

We offer support to domestic violence victims and their families by sending Story Bear Bags to the accommodation where they are temporarily housed. Each bag contains a cuddly toy teddy bear, a storybook and a laminated nursery rhyme activity poster. These bags are offered in the hope that they provide the children with some emotional comfort and support during a turbulent time of their lives when they have no home and very few resources.
